*NEW* Dragonfly Perch Adapters
Dragonfly Perch Adapters
In a personal effort to provide my animals with better living conditions while balancing cleanliness, ergonomics, and aesthetics I’ve come up with some new perching options that my animals are taking full advantage. Because of this I am offering the same design so others can give their animals the same options.
Thinner branches than what most cage manufacturers provide will be utilized quite often if they are given the opportunity! Ever see adults perched on the thin wires used for radiant heat panels? It’s because they seek out very thin branches as it makes them feel more secure. It’s easy to anthropomorphize and think they would be more comfortable on a larger diameter perch because that is what you would like if you were them…right? But the reality is you should give them options to change up where they rest so you can avoid chronic issues due to bad ergonomics (such as only using large diameter perches over extended periods of time). I’m finding some of my animals use these thin branch extensions even when they are the lowest perching option in their enclosures. This typically goes against the thought that they will always choose the highest points....The male pictured uses this new perch almost everyday as his sleeping site. It’s the lowest spot in his cage.
In addition to the smaller diameter these are also set up to allow your animals to rest their bodies over several points at one time. They often will utilize this option when given the chance.
They’re called Dragonfly Perches...and they are longer than what I’ve offered previously. They allow you to retrofit your existing setup with minimal work.
Will screw onto your existing perches (hardware not included). Simply use #8 or #10 Pan head screws that are 3/4” to 1” long to attach to your existing perches.
Comes in several color options (Black, Green, White, Brown, Blue)
Large Diameter Option is 13.5” long by 6” Wide. Perch diameter is 10mm.
Small Diameter Option is 13.3” long by 5.75” Wide. Perch diameter is 8mm.
If you need or desire you can easily cut the “wings” of these perches shorter if you are tight for space or want to modify.
